original compositions
My first self-produced work. This song is based on Truly Happy. After some rewrite and production magic, it’s gained a new life as Messy Broken.
New to songwriting, this is one of the first thing that came to mind when I thought about what I wanted to say. It’s a quirky personification of me as a person—an ugly duckling that grows up.
This is the first song where I attempted to write lyrics as well as music. The inspiration comes from experiencing and noticing the toll depression takes on a person, especially when they don’t realize they could be cured of this condition. After recovering and feeling what it’s like to live without it, I want the same thing to happen to others who are suffering and feel better again.
This is an electronic composition I did in Ableton Live. The software really is incredible, and I’ve only scratched the surface of it. Sampling is so easy in Ableton. The background percussion is recorded from a printer and put on a drum rack. Most other sounds are built-in sounds found in the Ableton library.
This track was inspired by the opening credit of Last Time in Paris, though the end result didn’t really match the movie scene so I decided to let it stand as its own composition. It’s got a certain melancholy that reminds me of the rain.
